The NET is the NUST Entry Test — the primary criterion for admission to the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan.
The NET is administered by NUST multiple times per year at test centers across Pakistan. It tests Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English at FSc pre-engineering level. NET scores are combined with FSc marks (in a ratio typically weighted 50–60% NET, 30–40% FSc) to calculate admission merit.
NUST also accepts the SAT as a substitute or supplement for the NET, particularly for students applying from international schools or with SAT scores from other applications.
If NUST is your target, NET preparation is your primary focus. The NET is offered multiple times — if your first attempt is below your target, you can retake it. Check NUST's current merit lists for your target programme to understand what NET score is competitive. For students also targeting LUMS or IBA (which require the SAT), both NET and SAT preparation should be managed in parallel.
