Remote Makran coast location, 700km from Quetta; Turbat University has limited programmes; relocation to Karachi is the realistic pathway for most
Turbat is the largest city in Makran, the coastal belt of Balochistan. It is approximately 700 kilometres from Quetta by road — a journey that takes over 10 hours — making Quetta-based universities impractical for most students. Karachi, despite being even further, is often a more realistic destination because it is reachable by air and houses more diverse educational options.
Turbat University was established to address the education gap in Makran but remains young and offers a limited range of programmes. Students from Turbat who want to study engineering, business, computer science, or medicine still need to leave the region entirely.
Balochistan students from Makran — Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Kech — face logistical barriers that are among the most severe in Pakistan. The cost of transport alone, without scholarship support for accommodation, puts elite institutions out of reach for almost all families. Yet students from Turbat have gained admission to LUMS and other institutions when the financial barriers were removed through scholarships.

Full scholarship — tuition, housing, and monthly living stipend

For Turbat students, Karachi is often more accessible than Quetta for higher education. Karachi houses IBA, NED, Karachi University, and SZABIST — all with Sindh/national quota seats and various scholarship programmes. The Balochistan Government Scholarship and LUMS NOP are your primary scholarship pathways. Start SAT preparation in your first year of FSc — Daakhla can guide you remotely.
Daakhla is new and has not yet guided a student from Turbat or Makran. Studying far from home is the reality here — and the right financial support makes it possible. The Balochistan Government Scholarship and LUMS NOP are open now, and you could be among the first students we help reach them.
Free admissions counselling and SAT preparation for students from Pakistan’s underserved districts. Rs 10,000 for both programmes — full financial aid for those who need it.
