About This Scholarship

One of the most respected scholarship programmes in the developing world. AKF offers a 50/50 grant-loan package, but the loan portion is often waived for graduates who work in development or underserved communities. Priority is given to students from AKDN regions.

Eligibility

Academically exceptional students with demonstrated financial need; preference for Aga Khan Development Network communities

  • Exceptional academic record
  • Demonstrated financial need — family cannot fund university studies
  • Acceptance to a recognised university
  • Strong commitment to giving back to community

How to Apply

  1. Download the AKF scholarship application from the AKDN website
  2. Submit academic transcripts, income documentation, and two references
  3. Write a personal statement explaining your goals and community commitment
  4. Interview with AKF panel if shortlisted
  5. Apply at least 8 months before your intended start date
