One engineering university locally; students seeking other fields must travel 300km to Quetta or further to Karachi
Khuzdar is one of Balochistan's largest districts by population, sitting at the centre of the province on the route between Quetta and Karachi. It is home to the Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology — a genuine asset — but a single engineering-focused institution cannot meet the needs of every student. Those who want to study business, medicine, the sciences, or the humanities must travel: roughly 300 kilometres north to Quetta, or all the way to Karachi.
The district's literacy rate sits around 41%, and university enrolment is far lower. For most families, the cost of sending a student to study in a distant city is the deciding barrier — not the student's ability. The application process itself, built around personal statements, SAT scores, and financial aid forms, assumes a level of guidance that simply is not available in Khuzdar's schools.
This is exactly the gap scholarships are designed to close. Khuzdar students are eligible for the LUMS National Outreach Programme, the Balochistan Government Scholarship, and HEC need-based aid — all of which can cover the full cost of attending a top university. The deciding factor is whether a student applies, and applies well.
Full scholarship — tuition, accommodation, and monthly stipend
Up to Rs 40,000 per semester (tuition support)
50% grant + 50% loan (effectively full support for those who cannot repay)
Full tuition + monthly stipend (varies by scheme)
Full tuition reimbursement at public-sector universities
If you are from Khuzdar, the BUET campus is a strong local option for engineering — but do not let it be your only plan. The LUMS NOP and Balochistan Government Scholarship can take you to LUMS, Habib University, or IBA on full or near-full aid, and both specifically prioritise students from Balochistan. Begin SAT preparation early, in your first year of FSc, and reach out to Daakhla so we can map your scholarship timeline before deadlines pass.
Daakhla is a new organisation and has not yet guided a student from Khuzdar — you could be the first. The scholarships that make a top university possible, the LUMS NOP and the Balochistan Government Scholarship, are open to you now, and we will help you apply.
Free admissions counselling and SAT preparation for students from Pakistan’s underserved districts. Rs 10,000 for both programmes — full financial aid for those who need it.
