Hold the door open
for someone behind you.

Daakhla runs entirely on people who choose to show up. Mentors, tutors, researchers, outreach workers — every team is volunteer-led. Find where you fit.

5 hrs a week — the average time our volunteers give. Enough to change a student's trajectory.
What mentors do

You guide.
They unlock.

One conversation can shift a student's entire trajectory. Our mentors don't teach — they open doors by sharing what they know and standing with students through the hardest parts of the process.

01Roles

Where you can fit.

Academic · 01
5 hrs/wk

Admissions Counsellor

Guide 2–3 students through their full application cycle — university shortlisting, essay coaching, financial aid strategy, and interview prep.

Best if you: Attended a competitive university in the last 8 years.
Academic · 02
3 hrs/wk

Essay Reader

Give written feedback on personal statements and supplements. Fully asynchronous — read and respond on your own schedule, no live sessions required.

Best if you: Strong written English and a sharp editorial eye.
SAT · 03
6 hrs/wk

SAT Mentor

Guide students through their own SAT guidance. You are not teaching a course: you help a student work out whether they need a score at all, build a study plan around their test date, and point them to the free official materials.

Best if you: Scored 1400+ on the SAT recently and can explain how you studied.
SAT · 04
3 hrs/wk

SAT Teaching Assistant

Answer student questions as they prepare, review practice work, and help them stay on their study plan. A good entry point into the SAT team.

Best if you: Scored 1350+ and are comfortable explaining maths or English under pressure.
Research · 05
3 hrs/wk

University Researcher

Build and maintain Daakhla's university database — scholarship opportunities, financial aid policies, application deadlines, and acceptance data for Pakistani students.

Best if you: Detail-oriented, comfortable with research, ideally with knowledge of US, UK, or Canadian admissions.
Outreach · 06
4 hrs/wk

Outreach Volunteer

Find and reach the students Daakhla exists for — connect with schools, teachers, NGOs, and community leaders in underserved districts to spread the word on the ground.

Best if you: Based in or connected to Balochistan, KPK, GB, interior Sindh, or rural Punjab.
Operations · 07
Marketing Social Media Design Tech Admin

Operations Team

Marketing & Social Media

Manage Daakhla's Instagram, LinkedIn, and content calendar. Create posts, reels, and campaigns that reach students and donors.

Design

Create visual assets — social graphics, presentation decks, student-facing materials, and brand collateral.

Tech & Admin

Help run our internal tools, scheduling, student data management, and the general unglamorous work that keeps everything moving.

Lead roles

Want to run a team, not just join one?

Each team has one lead — someone who owns the team's output, coordinates volunteers, and works directly with Daakhla's core team. Lead roles require more time (6–10 hrs/wk) but come with real ownership and responsibility.

Lead applications for Cohort 1 are closed too. If running a team is what draws you, email us anyway — we note interest for the next cohort and reach out first when leads open.
